The following was released to the ºìÌÒÊÓƵ community by President Engelkemeyer on Sunday, 3/22. For additional details and the most up-to-date information, please visit

Dear ºìÌÒÊÓƵ Community,

These past few weeks have certainly been unprecedented and challenging – around the world and on The Hill. All community members are experiencing incredible disruption in their lives. And we all feel for our students whose semester has been disrupted in such a profound way. Faculty and staff are working incredibly hard to deliver synchronous classes to ensure that we continue to provide a dynamic education, and to keep our campus operating. However, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues, it is clear that ºìÌÒÊÓƵ must take additional steps to help mitigate the potential spread of the virus by strictly limiting interpersonal interactions on campus. While we had very much hoped to be able to re-open the campus for in-person classes in early April, we will continue synchronous online teaching through the end of spring semester.

This may be disheartening but it is necessary, our residence halls will also remain closed.

  • To meet our social distancing obligations, opening the residence halls and allowing commuter students on campus is not possible. Please do not return to campus at this time.
  • As soon as we are able and conditions allow, our Residence Life team will arrange for students to return to remove their belongings. Please understand that we are unable to provide a specific date at this time. Any appointments currently scheduled for the coming week are cancelled.
  • All residence halls and individual rooms are closed and will remain secured and locked.
  • We are working on the process of determining pro-rated room & board credit for students. We expect the process to take 6 weeks. You will hear directly from Student Financial Services.

While offices are operating, there is minimal in-person coverage; many staff are working from home. We strongly recommend that all employees now prepare for a situation of extended remote work with strict limitations on access to campus.

We are committed to regular updates for our entire community at least once a week, and will continue to post all updates to the . We encourage all members of our community to follow .
