The Princeton Review examines colleges and universities across five regions in the US and abroad 鈥� Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, West, and International regions. It surveys administrators at several hundred colleges in each region, and considers information from staff visits, college counselors, advisors, and student surveys. Students are asked to rate their colleges on dozens of issues and to answer questions about themselves, their fellow students, and their campus life. Comments from surveyed students are quoted in the school profiles on The Princeton Review.
Overall 655 colleges and universities are represented in the Princeton Review鈥檚 鈥渞egional best鈥� lists for 2021, constituting about 23 percent of the nation鈥檚 2,800 four-year colleges
